“That was unfortunate. That was essentially an exchange with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones stated during a Tuesday interview. “There was a large group of Cowboys fans—not Jets fans, our fans. The whole venue was filled with enthusiasm for the Dallas team.”
Jones additionally clarified that the gesture was completely unintentional, happening amid the elation following the team’s last score. “I simply put up the incorrect finger,” he remarked. “The action was accidentally performed.
