Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outperformed Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by just one point after his victory in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the points battle, trailing 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his team ran a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was blessed to get away with just a minor contact of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, turning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs behind Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
